Spring Classes at Crafty Baba in Ipswich
Learn to pattern cut, fit and improve your sewing skills with me in relaxed, small groups of maximum 6 students.

Classes are held in the second floor sewing studio at:
Crafty Baba, 32 St Peter's St, Ipswich IP1 1XB, U.K.
Please be aware that the studio is on the second floor with stairs only.
All courses are 5 weeks and run on either Tuesday or Thursday from 10am - 12.00pm.

Sewing, Fitting and Pattern Club
Bring your own projects, make the most of the big tables and get tailored support and instruction.
Whether you need help with fitting a sewing pattern, design, pattern hacking, drafting or sewing, I will be there to help.
Make the most of my 20 years of experience in fashion design, fitting, sewing and pattern cutting to get support for your own project.
This is for women's wear only
What's included:
Tuition, Workspace, use of sewing machines and notions, Paper and Calico and tailored support and instruction.
You'll also need a sewing machine to continue some of the sewing at home. There is a range of sewing machines available to use during the class.
Skill Level:
Experienced beginner/ intermediate - You know how to use a sewing machine and have made patterns/clothes before.
This Club will work best if you're already a confident beginner and now need more tailored advice for your own projects. It's perfect if you've done any of the intermediate classes with Crafty Baba.
Timings:
6 morning sessions on Tuesdays. Maximum group size 6, so you won't get lost.

Perfect Trousers:
Choosing, Fitting and Sewing
Bring your sewing pattern and learn how to choose the right sewing pattern size, how to fit your trousers and how to sew them. Learn how to add pockets and more.
This is for women's wear only
What's included:
Tuition, Workspace, use of sewing machines and notions, Paper and Calico.
You'll need to bring a trouser sewing pattern and your final fabric.
You'll also need a sewing machine to continue some of the sewing at home.
Skill Level:
Experienced beginner/ intermediate - You know how to use a sewing machine and have made patterns/clothes before.
This course will work best if you're already a confident beginner and now want better fitting trousers and learn specialist sewing techniques such as trouser pockets and fly zips.
It's perfect if you've done any of the intermediate classes with Crafty Baba.

Made - to - Measure Bodice and Sleeves:
Learn to measure yourself, draft your own bodice and sleeves and fit them with me.
This works for both making perfectly fitting sewing patterns for yourself - a great base for pattern hacking, designing and pattern cutting and for making clothes for others.
This is for women's wear only.
What's included:
Tuition, Workspace, instructions, use of sewing machines and notions, Paper and Calico.
You'll learn the whole process from measuring to fitting as well as how to turn your block into a sewing pattern.
You'll also need a sewing machine to continue some of the sewing at home.
Skill Level:
Experienced beginner/ intermediate - You know how to use a sewing machine and have made patterns/clothes before.
This course will work best if you're already a confident sewist and now want to create your own patterns.
It's perfect if you've done any of the intermediate classes with Crafty Baba.

Meet your Instructor
Hello!
I’m Charlotta and I'm so excited to finally offer you classes in Ipswich for 2025. I'm a fashion designer and pattern cutter by trade and I also lectured in Fashion Design at Suffolk New College from 2009 to 2018.
Most of all I'm really passionate about teaching people like you to make clothes that fit and bring you joy.
Whether you’re interested in improving your sewing skills, finally getting sewing patterns to fit, pattern hacking or drafting your own patterns - I'm here to make these dreams a reality.
The last five years I've been mainly teaching online. It’s really exciting to have found a great sewing studio at Crafty Baba so I can now offer real in person classes again.
I look forward to offering a lot of different courses throughout 2025, starting with two for January.
